On Wednesday 25th January, 6 Derby RC representatives headed down to Leander Club in Henley-on-Thames for this years Fours Head Prizegiving.
The clubs was awarded and collected a decorative blade for its win of the Davison Award. This is a discretionary award, given to the standout performance of a small club, in memory of Noel Davison who tragically lost his life to cancer.
Chairman of the Head Richard Phelps said:
"This year we considered several clubs for the prize, based on a combination of the
diversity and size of their entry as well as overall performance. Richard Phelps,
Chairman of the Fours Head, selected Derby after considerable analysis and
discussion with the Committee.
Five crews from Derby competed at the 2022 Fours Head, across Open, Women’s and
Junior categories, with strong results in the Club Open Coxed Fours and Club
Women’s Coxless Fours events. The Committee all look forward to welcoming
representatives of the club to the prizegiving to receive their Davison Blade from
members of Noel’s family."
This is a fantastic achievement for a club of our size and testament to all the hard work that went into the event from our competing athletes.
A very well done to them all.
Martha Nutkins
Club Captain
